Congratulations Municipality of Talacogon headed by Mayor Pauline Marie R. Masendo, RN ![]()

According to the Author, Rep. Alfel Bascug, the Municipality of Talacogon is seen as the proper site of the proposed Freshwater Fish Hatchery as the new title of House Bill 6428 into 8082 because being hailed as one of the early cradles of civilization in Agusan del Sur, it is one of the largest municipalities in the province channeling the flow of Agusan River thereby creating lakes around the area.
One of the flagship programs of the Provincial Agriculture Office of Agusan del Sur is the Intensified and Sustainable Development of Aquaculture (ISDA) where the provincial government aims to increase freshwater fish production by promoting fish cage and fish pond technology. Accordingly, the program extends technical assistance and the supply of quality fingerlings to fish farmers.
The initiative, according to Rep. Bascug, also aims to improve the economic competitiveness of the province by maximizing the capabilities of its potential stakeholders which is the fish farmers. Under the existing program of the agriculture sector in the province, the establishment of the new strategic municipal hatchery will definitely help the farmers’ needs. Hence, it is important to come up with a mission to advance the province’s agricultural ideals for research and breeding activities to further develop what has been started.
Joy and gratitude has also been visible from the faces of the people of Talacogon and Barangay Zillovia for the noble effort of Rep. Bascug. In his part, Rep Bascug also expressed his gratitude to the BFAR family for their continued support in order to bring the vision of the bill into a reality.
According to Rep. Bascug, this is a big leap for livelihood in the province.
Daghang salamat Team Eddiebong!
Congratulations!
